I have just received a letter from Mary enclosing a letter from Martha telling all about what a bad time you have been having. Mary McComb had mentioned some time ago you’re having a sore thumb and Joe had written that you had something like a felon on your thumb but as I hear nothing from home about it supposed it wasn’t anything serious. ]]>

I expect that you will have more peas than you will want to sow next year and they will probably bring a pretty good price. Have you ever had any experience in keeping peas over? I am told that there is a weevil that works in them very badly but that this weevil can be entirely killed by treating the peas with Carbon bi sulphide ....
