Sunday evening Probably summer of 1934
Dear Lillian
I suppose you’ve plowed thru the 10 page letter I wrote a few days ago, so I’ll try to make this a little different, although there really isn’t much news.
It is perfect up here, the people are grand, the weather is grand, the lake is grand, and the food is grand – sometimes. I haven’t gained any weight yet, but I feel grand (excuse the repetition). We went to Geneva on the boat this afternoon – all around the lake, & had all the estates pointed out to us. Boy, Oh, boy – you & I gotta hurry up. There’s a hundred room mansion that is vacant: so there’d be room enough for you & me & Joe.
The other nite we decided to go swimming after the curfew had rung – so five of us went in a’ la the nude. It was lots of fun, so we tried it the next nite, but there were too many people walking along the shore so we just went swimming – suits & all. It’s much more fun swimming when you’re not supposed to – even though we do have to wait ‘till the nite watchman’s out of site & then walk about a mile, so we won’t get caught.
